Swift Announces Support of Boulet in Mayor-President Race

LAFAYETTE, LA — Former candidate for Mayor-President Jan Swift is lending her support to Monique Blanco Boulet, she told reporters at a joint press conference ten days ahead of the November 18 runoff. Swift, a formidable candidate for Mayor-President herself, is asking those who supported her in the primary to vote for Boulet this time around.

"I hope you will join me in voting for Monique and let’s move forward in accomplishing what my campaign was all about.  It’s about you. It’s about our community. It’s about restoring the notion of public service to elected office,” Swift told a crowd of Boulet and Swift supporters gathered at the Wednesday morning press conference.

Boulet spoke briefly to thank Swift, saying, "I want to thank Jan for her courage and support. She has and will continue to have a great impact in our community. This election is bigger than any of us and I hope everyone will join both of us in voting for change.”

Last week, Boulet received the endorsement of the Professional Association of Law Enforcement Officers, while Guillory battled criticism of his move to defund park police just before a deadly shooting that left two young people dead in Moore Park. The November 18th runoff sees scandal-ridden Guillory badly dogged by ongoing investigations, controversies, and lawsuits. Boulet, has galvanized a diverse base of support on the road to unseating the incumbent.
